The National Road Alliance of West Virginia, Inc. was incorporated in 1999 as a 501(c)3 organization.
The mission of the organization is to Preserve, Protect and Promote the instrinsic qualities of the Historic National Road.

The National Road was designated a West Virginia byway is 1998 and an All American Road in 2002.  The federal designation also included the sections of the route in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois.

Projects undertaken by the organization include:

• Corridor Management Plan
• Video, Brochure and Kiosks
• Audio Driving Tour
• 1/2 hour production for WV Public TV
• Marketing Initiative
• Transportation Fest (September 24, 2005)
